Ample Parking Day and Night

My South Park self-portrait
Yes, I have longish red hair that people keep telling me I need to get cut.
I wear a head-band when I run so I got that 70s era runner look going. Minus the short shorts and knee socks.
I wear the occasional Hawaiian shirt.
When pretty girls are in my midst, I tend to look away because frankly, I have no game.

I'm on a Permanent Vacation

Well I guess I won't officially be on vacation until saturday, when we finally arrive at our cottage. But since I'm driving home tonight, in my mind I'm already there and giddy like a little school girl. Thursday we're driving down to Greensboro. The little sister is graduating on friday. Then on saturday its off to the coast for a week of rest, relaxation, sun, and fun with the family. I get to spend a week with the niece and nephew. They're the cutest.

Create your own South Park Character!

I was having fun with this last night. I made a nice pseudo-representation of myself. If I ever figure out how to post pictures here, I'll share it with the world.

They Don't Love You Like I Love You

Wow, since I'm done with school, I've put a little more effort into this thing here.

Anyway, so for those of you who aren't in the know, Google has added another feature to its ever-impressive fleet -- Google Maps. Now, what is the difference between that and say Mapquest or Yahoo? The big thing is that Google offers satellite images of most areas. You can get pretty darn close to a lot of areas in the US. It is quite fun to look over real places and it is a nice waste of time.

So I'm driving home later this week. For the sake of curiosity I wanted to see what Google gave me for driving directions. Google gave me these directions, which are a bit different from what Yahoo gave me. So what is the difference? Well Google's trip is 227 miles which should take 3 hours and 30 minutes while Mapquest's trip is 222 miles and should take 3 hours and 37 minutes. So what is the difference? The big thing is that going from the Ohio Turnpike to US-23 requires one to get off of the turnpike, drive throught a small town (read: traffic lights) and get onto 23. There is no direct exit from the Turnpike to 23. From what it look's like, Google's route will have a direct connection from the Turnpike to I-280. Additionally, Google puts me futher east on the Turnpike which mean's I'll be paying less in tolls. I'm anxious to see how this route compares.

School's Out For Summer

Gotta love Alice Cooper.
Yes, as of about 1:50 this afternoon I have officially finished my first year of grad school.
*applause*
So I did my customary ritual that I had as an undergrad -- go back to my room put on Mr. Cooper, and crank up the volume. Of course in grad school there is no "freshman/sophomore/junior/senior" levels, so its not like I'm moving up. I'll be a "2nd year" as opposed to a "1st year." It was nice that as I was walking back after my test, the sun was shining, there was blue sky, and it was warming up. Now that school is done for the year, what is the biggest thing I"m looking forward to? No, not drinking or partying. The biggest thing I want to do is: NOTHING! Yes that's right. This weekend will be the first one since, well, the beginning of the semester that I have nothing to do. I can sleep in. I can be a bum. That's what I'm looking forward to.

When May is Rushing Over You

April has come and gone. You wouldn't know it by the weather. Spring & summer tempted us a few weeks back, but I just want one thing right now: warm weather.

And its also that time of the year. Yes, finals are here. The past 2 weeks I've been doing nothing but studying. Finishing up various projects, preparing for my tests and what-not. I've got 4 things in the next 3 days. 3 finals and 1 practical examination. Wednesday afternoon I'll be done. Then I'll have a week or so to relax and then its off to NC for my sister's graduation and vacation.

Finals means something else -- finding new ways to distract myself. I've got a new add-on to my Firefox browser -- StumbleUpon. Basically it sends you to random websites that you may or may not be interested in. You can give it a thumbs up ("I like it") or a thumbs down ("Not-for-me"). My bookmarks, which have been stagnant for awhile, have had some additions to them. I've been enjoying it.
